Our
Story

Who we are, where we come from, and why this work will not stop.

Marglimar Humanitarian Foundation

Born from a conviction
that refused to stay quiet.

We started with a simple belief that every person, no matter their circumstances, deserves to be seen. So we went to work. On the ground in Nigeria, inside communities that have long been overlooked, we don't just drop off supplies and leave. We stay. We listen. We build real relationships.

"When one person rises, they lift the people around them. That's the whole idea."

Our focus is on the people who carry the heaviest weight. Widows who suddenly have nothing after losing a spouse. Children and orphans who need more than survival. Disabled individuals who are capable of so much more when given a real shot. These aren't statistics to us. They are the whole point.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Chicago, with roots running deep into Nigeria. We exist to connect people who have something to give with communities that have so much to offer in return.

Who We Serve

The people at the
center of everything.

Widow icon
Widows
Losing a spouse can mean losing everything. Income, stability, a sense of what comes next. We walk alongside widows as they rebuild, offering practical support, skills training, and a community that does not let them face it alone.
Orphan icon
Children & Orphans
Kids should not have to worry about where their next meal comes from. We work directly with orphans and vulnerable children to make sure they have what they need to grow, learn, and genuinely thrive.
Disability icon
Disabled Individuals
A disability is not a dead end, though it gets treated like one far too often. We work to change that, creating real pathways to independence and dignity for disabled people across our communities in Nigeria.

Where We Work

Food distribution
and real change,
on the ground.

From Lagos, Eket, Akwa Ibom State and beyond, our teams work directly with families facing food insecurity. Widows, children, and disabled individuals receive regular food packages, nutritional support, and access to our programs — not just once, but as part of a sustained relationship with the community.

This is not aid from a distance. We are present. We know the families by name. We show up because they deserve that.

These families deserve people like you.

The people we work with are not defined by what they lack. They are resilient, resourceful, and full of hope. What they need is a partner. Someone willing to show up. Whether you give your time, your dollars, or spread the word, you become part of something that genuinely changes lives.

More About Us

Today, MHF partners with local leaders, churches, and trusted community members across Nigeria to make sure resources reach the right people. We do not just deliver aid. We build relationships that last well beyond any single visit. We are faith-led. Community-rooted.

This is what our work looks like on the ground. Not a program. A presence.

Completely committed to the people of Nigeria and beyond. Food distribution, widow support, child welfare, disability outreach.
Our Founder

A life given
to the mission.

Marglimar Humanitarian Foundation was founded by Margaret Oshinowo, a Nigerian-born Chicago resident who never forgot where she came from. As a widow, a mother, and a reverend, her passion was deeply personal. She knew firsthand what it meant to carry loss and still keep going. That experience became the heartbeat of everything MHF does. After watching families in Nigerian communities struggle with poverty, food insecurity, and the quiet weight of grief, she did not wait for someone else to act. She created an initiative to go directly to the people who needed it most and lift them up from the inside out. She started showing up. First with food. Then with resources. Then with a registered nonprofit, a growing team of volunteers, and a mission that keeps expanding because the need is real and the people are absolutely worth it.
